The Reopening of the Club’s Bar & Catering

31 Mar 2021

Last night I dreamt of the Heatons Sports Club again.

It is with great pleasure I can announce the re-opening of the outside bar at the Club on Friday 16th April.  Obviously this is great news and I thought I would take this opportunity to outline a few changes the Club is making along with 1 or 2 plans for the future.

Outside Bar

We have made some changes to how we can order drinks at the bar.  Firstly, it is table service only via an app.  The app can be found on any popular app store. Just type in ‘heatons sports club’ and download the app and once you have found yourself a table you can order drinks which will be brought to you by the bar staff.  As per last year it is credit/debit card only, no cash.
Secondly we have a vision! We are looking to make sure the HSC has the best beer garden in the area!  Current thoughts include permanent umbrellas with sturdy outside furniture alongside a more temporary arrangements of seats and umbrellas.  Joe Ingham has kindly provided sketches outlining our vision and these will made available shortly.

The ability for the Club to look at making this transformation is squarely down to you, our members, who have been unstintingly generous in your donations via the Just Giving page Tim Humpage set up last year and also in support of the herculean efforts of Andy Graham who set himself a challenge of running 496km in the month of March.  At the time of writing he has 31kms today! His sole aim is to raise money for the HSC. In his own words ‘The Club retains an important part within our home and the wider community and its ongoing existence needs to be secure’.  This is quite typical of the sentiments of our members who have made me realise how much this club means to so many of you.  I would like to once again thank Andy and all of you for your outrageous munificence and words of encouragement during the past few months.

What can you expect from the Club on the 16th?

• Bar opens at 5pm
• Table service only
• BBQ all evening
• Kappa sportswear sample sale
• The start of junior cricket practise
• The opportunity to socialise with people you haven’t seen for a few months!

Whilst there is a definite roadmap to ease us all back into a life we once enjoyed, we hope the above somewhat future proofs against any further changes and provides us with an asset we can all enjoy.

I look forward to seeing you all shortly.
